Their bodies disintegrate into the noise of digital photography as the camera is pushed beyond its limits in a struggle to render darkness visible. Dead pixels (white dots) and hot pixels (pink/red dots), where the camera has failed to record light, expose the underlying structures of the photograph through what eludes representation and legibility. The opacity of these staged situations, and the ambiguous narrative they suggest, seek to implicate the viewer through the act of looking, and perhaps offer them an encounter with the disturbing forces of sexuality which are at play not only in the artworks, but also in themselves. I imagine reading Luxor in its book form (draft below) to feel like surrendering to the elusive plot of a psychosexual horror film, unfolding with a slow-burnt, pulsating, hypnotic rhythm. Ample silences repeatedly punctured by enigmatic images which pull the reader’s gaze; the blank spaces escalating the tension around scenes which drift back and forth between orchestrated form and abstracted formlessness.&nbsp; The photographs will be accompanied by a piece of writng by Tim Dean, James M. Benson Professor in English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, author of Beyond Sexuality (2000),&nbsp;Unlimited Intimacy: Reflections on the Subculture of Barebacking (2009) and
